 | Instead of carrying the food to the top, we ate at the car park.
 | Just to one side of the table we ate dinner at was this ant hill. It was about 1.5m high. [David's correction]White ants that is, or termites.
 | The path first rapidly ascended to a plateau. To one side of the plateau was a lookout consisting of an outcropping of sandstone.
 | Another view
 | Once at the plateau the path was fairly easy walking for about a kilometre.
 | One interesting piece of fauna I saw was a huge fly - it would have been about 2 cm long. I think it might be a variety of saw fly.
 | Another shot.
 | An interesting fungas in the swamp on the plateau. I'll look this up when I remember where I put the fungus book...Ah, found it... nope no exact match available, but it could be a russula.
 | The plateau smoothly became steeper as we approached the actual peak. The peak consisted of about 200m of sandstone rising steeply out of the surrounds.
 | I always thought pinapple grass to be isolated to tasmainia(which you must admit, is pretty isolated... :-)
 | I'm sure glad I'm not afraid of heights - there were numerous sheer drops of excess of 300m.
 | Another strange lifeform, I'm not sure whether these are mosses, ferns or some flowering plant. They were about the size of a bean pod. The lighting on these is a bit unfortunate. Lynne: some sort of dendrobium striolatum.
 | Is this the same as the previous in differing conditions? Lynne says theses are most likely a fern, believe it or not! They are not the same as the previous.
 | A view down the side of the mountain
 | A view from the top.
 | The Clyde river valley. The clyde river seems to be only about 15 km in length, yet it would be 500 wide at the mouth. Also, the area in this view is actually full of unexploded ordinances..
 | The plateau from the top of the mountain
 | Back on the trail down again. The vegetation here is much more similar to coastal plants - yet is complete surrounded by lush rainforest.
 | The afforementioned rain forest. This picture was actually taken from the car coming back from the beach.
 | on the way home we stopped via a beach to have a bit of fun, and to wash the sweat off...
